Levels of Commitment

My love for the Church compels me to respond to her needs with a generous spirit, and vocations are always one of her constant and most urgent needs.

Therefore, I will:

First Level

The first level may be right for those who appreciate the importance of fostering vocations.

Prayer   Daily prayer for vocations.
Sacrifice   A weekly sacrifice for the spiritual strength of all those living a vocation to the priesthood and consecrated life and for the openness and generosity of the young people God is calling.
Action
  • Speak positively of all those living their call to the priesthood and consecrated life, and avoid destructive criticism.
  • Invite young people to activities and events that will help them grow in their relationship with Christ and foster the seed of a possible vocation if God has placed it in their soul.

Second Level

The second level is for those who understand the need for vocations and want to actively participate in fostering vocations. They add the following to the first level commitments.

Prayer   Weekly half-hour of Adoration for Vocations.
Sacrifice   A daily sacrifice for the spiritual strength of all those living a vocation to the priesthood and consecrated life and for the openness and generosity of the young people God is now calling.
Action
  • Actively collaborate in a parish or diocesan-approved program for the formation of youth or Catholic families.
  • Promote a yearly vocation-awareness activity in your parish, school or apostolate.
  • Be willing to receive training to become more effective in promoting vocations.

Third Level

The third level is for those who want to aid the Church in the promotion of vocations by working with others to foster vocations. They add the following to the commitments of the first and second levels.

Prayer   Daily visit to the Eucharist to pray specifically for priestly vocations for your home dioceses and consecrated life.
Sacrifice   Monthly monetary sacrifice for the support of your local seminary and/or the formation houses of religious and consecrated persons.
Action
  • Recruit vocation promoters in your parish or apostolate.
  • Multiply and expand existing parish-based or diocesan approved activities that support prayer for vocations, formation of youth, and support of Catholic families.
  • Be willing to receive the training to seek out and train other vocation promoters.
